About Portable Document Format (PDF) Files
The Maine Computer Crimes Taskforce utilizes Portable Document Format (PDF) files for many of its documents. PDF files maintain the look of the original document, and they can be viewed and printed on a variety of devices and operating systems. However, to view and print these files, you must download and install the Adobe Acrobat Reader program from
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
Please be sure to use the most current Adobe program to ensure compatibility with the PDF files on the Maine Computer Crimes Taskforce website.
Adobe also provides online conversion tools at
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/access_onlinetools.html.
These tools help visually disabled users whose screen reader software is not compatible with the Adobe Acrobat Reader. These online tools convert PDF documents into either HTML or ASCII text, which can then be read by a number of common screen reader programs.
